Obi is a town of well-preserved samurai houses in Miyazaki’s Nichinan City. Obi Castle dates back to the 15th century, when it was built by the Shimazu family of Kagoshima to protect them from their long-standing enemies, the Itoh family. The Itohs captured the castle during a war in 1484. Almost 100 years later, the Shimazus recaptured it, but quickly lost it again to Hideyoshi Toyotomi, a famous warlord and ally of the Itoh family, who then ruled from the castle for the next fourteen generations. Among the homes you can visit are Yoshokan, the home of the head of the Itoh family, which features a meticulously landscaped Japanese garden and Matsuo no Maru, a large, modern replica of a nobleman’s residence from the Edo period (1603-1867).

The first heavy-duty building in Miyazaki Prefecture. I visited this together with Obi Castle. It's a very nice place and makes me feel calm. Park at the tourist free parking lot near Obi Castle and walk. Obi tempura and Obi senbei are exquisite and recommended as souvenirs✨

It was never crowded on weekdays. You can enjoy both the moat and the stone walls. And after all, Obisugi is amazing! You can walk around Obi Castle for free, but you will have to pay to go to the nearby Jutaro Komura Memorial Museum and other places. There is a rice shop on the right as soon as you exit the gate of Obi Castle, and you can also take a break and just have coffee. There was an Obi Ten set meal, but I didn't eat it this time because I visited after eating. You can eat freshly fried Obiten at the shop right next to it. The friendly mothers made me feel at ease! You can drive to Obi Castle, so it's also easy.

Nice castle town, the 600 Yens pass is a real deal. Restaurant options are quite limited, nothing vegetarian in the city from what I've seen but there's a konbini in worst case
