Absolutely loved the place despite the crowds. There is free parking (outside of cherry blossom season) and then it is a steep 10 min walk to the top either on the road or with the stairs, but worth it. I went there for sunset so it was an easy way in but I would assume the parking to be packed on peak touristy hours. Thankfully, there are some staff members to guide you through the parking and look after the pedestrians' safety. It offers a great view of Mt Fuji and the pagoda, perfect for sunsets. There are a few walks around at the tops for those who want to enjoy the views a bit longer.

Great scenic vibes and views. It is a short walk from the train station through a quiet street. I would try to get here in the morning around 9:30 to 10 am because we started seeing more people coming later. There are quite a few flights of stairs to climb before reaching the Pagoda. The Pagoda tower is not accessible to go in. On a great day, you can even see Mt. Fuji from the top. There are a couple of food trucks near the shrine as well as a little shop that serves ramen and ice cream if you guys get a little hungry coming back down the stairs.

You might not remember the name of this place, but you have definitely seen it in Japan's official tourism programs or brochures. That is, a picture that has Fuji mountain on one side and this pagoda on the other side. Depending on the season, there will be cherry blossoms in the photo as well. Yes, you can take that photo here. Once you get off the Shimoyoshida train station, you can easily follow Google maps directions or follow where the most people go in peak seasons.

Beautiful spot with postcard views of Mount Fuji and a five storied pagoda. I went at sunrise and there were already around 20 other people there also taking photos, so I can imagine it gets busy. Be aware that the parking lot is at the bottom of the park, as well as all public transport, and it is a decent hike to the top (either stairs or winding slope) which takes at least 15 minutes if moving quickly up the hundreds of steps.

It's the famous Pagoda of Chureito, a perfect place to enjoy one of the beauty of Japan. There are 2 pathway to get to the top from the foot of the hill. Through the stairs or through a more winding road located beside the stairs. The road path is obviously easier because its less steep than the stair but requires further distance. While the stairs are far steeper due to shorter distance than the road. Both path offers different scenery for you to enjoy. You can go through the stairs going up and the winding road going down, or the other way around. Or, like me and my family, you can mix them up, alternating between the stairs and the winding road depending on your stamina 😋 Either way, you can't go wrong, and your effort will be paid off with the beautiful scenery that accompany you through your journey.
