I visited without knowing that it was under renovation, so at first I thought the paintings on the walls were real. I visited on a Sunday, and there weren't many tourists, probably because it was under renovation. The renovation period is from October 2019 to March 2025.

The roof of the pagoda had been lowered to the ground for restoration work, and a museum was being built alongside it. Even though the museum is a temporary building, it has been designed to make it easy to see the roof of the Hachigato. The materials on display were very easy to understand, and I felt it was the perfect place to learn about Sapporo's history. In particular, the explanations given by the museum staff were very interesting and I learned a lot.

I didn’t go inside the building because it’s under construction but man the garden in the fall was purely beautiful like a Monet paining. The pond, the colors. I would highly recommend just going for the garden if not inside too.

I went to see the temporary facilities during the renovation of the red brick government building. I have lived in Sapporo for 55 years and have toured the inside of the Red Brick Government Building several times, but I was surprised to be able to see the octagonal tower right in front of my eyes. If you have someone who can go see it, I highly recommend it! The volunteer guide gave various explanations, and I learned a lot from the history of the red brick government building posted on the wall. Also, during the construction of this red brick government building, is there a sheet covering the red brick government building? (I don't know how to describe it) I was surprised to see a picture of the red brick government building! It is a must-see to see this canopy created by connecting several sheets together!!(≧∇≦)b

As it is a historical building, it cannot be directly compared with other important cultural property buildings, but extensive restoration work was being carried out. I could see the main building through the glass.
