Lovely old shrine. The surrounding area is also beautiful with all the bonsai gardens and little shrines. I recommend taking the time to walk the entire area. Very few tourists here as it's not well known but it's as beautiful as any other shrine I've seen in Japan. Forest is full of birds, especially ravens. Very peaceful to just sit and enjoy the atmosphere and sounds. There's also the wellness cow statue that cures ailments if you rub it.

We walked quite a bit. 40 minutes one way! There have been bears lately, so it was quite a difficult road to walk on. But there is a sense of power and accomplishment.

It is a very quiet place. When you go around Lake Kawaguchi, it is recommended to get off the car and walk around. In winter, you might even be able to build a snowman.

The main building is destroyed. Only a shrine and few stone stele are standing.

You cannot bring pets and parking is near lakeside. Has an amazing view of Mt. Fuji through the lateen area. If you collect goshuin (red) stamp there are 2 available.
