Gunma Prefecture Gokoku Shrine
2000 Notsukemachi, Takasaki, Gunma 370-0867, Japan
This shrine is located approximately eight minutes by car from Takasaki Station's West Exit. Over 40,000 souls of people lost during the war are enshrined here. In 1909, the Gunma Shokonkai was formed and every year, they held a remembrance festival in the Eireiden (Hall of Heroic Spirits) in Takasaki Park until an institutional reform of 1939 when the shrine was established, and the souls enshrined here in 1941. In addition to the main shrine with its simple copperplate roof, built in the Nagare-zukuri style, there are also several memorial monuments in the grounds. Also, in addition to the Tsukinami no Matsuri Festival held every month, many other rites are conducted on the spacious grounds.

I visited Gunma Prefecture Gokoku Shrine. It's a very big shrine. With the exception of Gokoku Shrine in Saitama Prefecture, the worship halls of Gokoku Shrine are somehow similar. . You can also receive the Goshuin stamp directly written on it.

It was a walking course for a kindergarten, so I walked along feeling nostalgic about the time almost half a century ago. The area around the war memorial where our homeroom teacher, Sensei Kobayashi, listened to the story of ``Azuki Baba'' was unchanged. I followed with my eyes the words engraved on the stone monuments, which were built with donations, including some about people repatriated from overseas, and others offering condolences to the 19- and 20-year-olds who were killed in the special attack unit. . I followed each name slowly, thinking of each name. My parents had their wedding here, and our Shichi-Go-San festival was held at Takasaki Shrine, but we also came together to pray at our nephew's and niece's Shichi-Go-San shrines. This time, I went for an early morning walk. As always, I put my hands together as if praying for the safety of my family, good health, the safety of my family and friends, and peace for humanity all over the world. We don't know when, but we must ring the peace bell. It would be better if there were more pictures of the wedding ceremony with lots of smiles.

I'm steadily visiting Gokoku Shrines all over the country. I arrived on January 6th, and I took the Gururin bus from Takasaki Station West Exit No. 8. We arrived in about 25 minutes. The precincts are large. You can reach the worship hall in about 5 minutes from the Otorii gate. To get to the parking lot, go past the Otorii gate and go up the mountain a little, and you will see the entrance sign on your right. Also, perhaps because it was the New Year's visit season, there was a parking lot set up at the Otorii gate. Now, you can get goshuin stamps, amulets, etc. at the shrine office on the left. There are three columns with colorful notes and one column with general notes, but if you open up the Goshuin book from Yasukuni Shrine, Negi or Gonnegi, who were in the back, can also write on it. That's a true response from God. On the way back, I called a taxi in advance because I had to wait an hour and a half because Gururin's timings didn't match. I went to Takasaki Station via Takasaki Shrine, but it cost 2800 yen. It wasn't cheap by any means, but considering that I had to wait for the bus and then transfer to the bus to get to Takasaki Shrine, it was cheap. With the extra time, I was able to shop at Gunma-chan SHOP at Takasaki Station! ️
