As one can imagine, this gate is very much a popular visit. It was great to be able to see it, the area was clean and restrooms were available. Plan your trip around tides if you want to walk under it as it could be under water.

The fact that full of Japanese students visiting here everyday is the proof of how great this place is. This floating shinto shrine can be reach only by boat..(I saw a crazy western guy swimming to the gate though). Then there is a big temple there too. If you have time, you can walk around the island, you will see a lot of momiji manju stores, souvenir stores, restaurants so you are totally fine to spend hours here. Be prepare to see a lot of deers here too. They are kind and familiar with people, so don't worry.

We had a lovely time here. It was quite a travel from Kobe from where we were staying but we managed to get there by 12-1pm and enjoyed the rest of the day. You can get a nice walk in the island, lots of stores as well and a good amount of nature. The Torii gate is packed with people taking photos. However the place is absolutely stunning specially when the sun is about to set. Iconic and very symbolic of Japan.

Pretty Torii 😍 it was super busy and all the tourist restaurants and snack stalls around were full. The queue for the temple was super long. Very nice half day out and there is something for everyone. Do beware of the hungry deer, if you are eating they will come and try to get your food.

The island is lovely especially during October it's not as packed but the weather is still nice. The deer are also very friendly and will occasionally walk up to people. The island is beautiful and there is a lot to see. Highly recommended!
