It was my first time seeing stained glass. The subjects were basically religious ones like the Virgin Mary and Christ, so I would have liked to have seen them with more indirect lighting or everyday objects. I'm grateful that I'm doing this early in the morning. This is because there is a hamburger restaurant Sawayaka Kakegawa Inter nearby, and I visited there to kill time until it opens at 11am. If you take a quick look, you can finish it in 30 minutes. There is no parking lot. There is a parking lot nearby that you can rent by the hour for 100 yen for 30 minutes. Admission is free for persons with a disability certificate and their accompanying persons.

You can see it for a cheap price of 400 yen, which is 100 yen off with the Kakegawa Castle admission ticket. The stained glass is really beautiful. If you come to Kakegawa Castle, we also recommend this.

A large number of valuable vintage stained glass windows are on display. It was actually installed in a church in England, and you can enjoy the period and the work done by the workshop. Even if you are not interested in religious paintings, I think you will enjoy it as it looks beautiful. I think many people think that stained glass is a colorful glass window, beautiful like a tarot card, but the one installed here is a religious painting, with a detailed and solemn atmosphere. The majority. You can also see behind the stained glass, so it's fun to see it from the outside. I visited on a slightly cloudy day similar to the climate in England, but the subdued light shining in gave it a magical and beautiful look. Anything with a physical form will one day be destroyed (especially items with a strong religious theme may be destroyed), so I think it's a good idea to take a look at them while they still exist. it's recommended.

I thought this would just be a modern art gallery of stained glass. So I was happily surprised to find authentic stained glass recovered from old English homes and personal chapels. In the pieces dealing with Biblical content, it was interesting to see the symbolism embedded in the details of the glass. I walked away with a better understanding of how stained glass was used as the "Poor Man's Bible."
