This is a less popular temple compared to other temples and shrines in Kamakura and hence it has very peaceful and calm atmosphere. We visited in Summer but its beautiful in Spring and Autumn. One can explore sacred halls with 500 yen entrance fee for an adult and 200 for a child.

A lesser known temple. That is because photography is prohibited, so information is scarce. However, it is a historical temple from the Kamakura period. The cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn leaves are beautiful.

I visited six temples, including a few big ones, on my first-ever visit to Kamakura, and this was my clear favorite. It was deeply tranquil, with effortlessly beautiful moss on the ground in parts, and the temple attendants were friendly. As others have said, it seems like fall foliage would be great here — but photos are not allowed in most of the grounds, so bring a good memory. Leaves were just barely starting to turn on Oct 9 '22.

Wonderful old temple slightly off the main attractions. You can hike from there all the way to Kitakamakura.

Grounds were beautiful but unless you were on the tour, you could only see one structure. The buddha statues in the main hall were interesting and the flanking statues were also unique to other temples we've been to. Try and get on the regular tours with the monks and bring the english guide with you. The check in office is so small that you get to watch them do your temple stamp as you wait, very neat!!
