The Koyo-zan Senjuin Kannon-ji Temple is a temple belonging to the Koya-san school of Shingon Buddhism that is located in the Kokufu-cho Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture; it is the 16th temple of the Shikoku 88-temple Pilgrimage. The Kannon-ji Temple was originally founded on the orders of Emperor Shomu.

The 16th temple of the 88 shrines in Shikoku. It's a good Buddha temple that matches the calm cityscape of the surrounding area.

It was located in a village, and I almost passed by it for a moment. Many of the temples in Tokushima blend into the village, so they feel like local temples. It is a historic temple that was built when Emperor Shomu established Kokubunji temples throughout the country. Most of the temples in Tokushima were burnt down during Motochika Chosokabe's unification of Shikoku, but this temple also seems to have been rebuilt by the Tokushima clan during the Edo period. This little monk's signboard (Hiroshi Oizumi says Ikkyu) was wearing a knitted hat and was full of kindness.

The temple in Yumin District is dedicated to the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. There is also a Yewei Ksitigarbha in the temple. It can protect children's health and prevent them from crying at night. The temple is located in a residential building, and there are many shops nearby, so it is definitely convenient for those who pass by to replenish supplies. My bicycle is also repaired at a bicycle shop near the temple.

This small temple is number 16 of the Shikoku 88 Temples Pilgrimage. It’s rather less impressive than most, but still a pretty place.
