Kawara-machi was a riverside port district for merchants since the era of Oda Nobunaga.

Looks like a strip of Gion District in Kyoto. When I went in a Monday afternoon, there was barely anyone there. Lots of traditional looking restaurants line the street

Many shops are closed. Not sure it’s related to COVID or not.

Unique traditional village professionally managed. You can find some shops, selling various stuffs, from food to handcrafted goods. At night you can enjoy cormorant fishing.

Don't know if the purely "genuine" feeling strikes me, hur the houses are rebuilt in a clssical manner so, ok, worth seeing while in Gifu!
