We went to the exhibition which costs 600 yen, including an entrance to the museum. It was another way to see the temple at night. I would recommend coming over 5 pm and seeing the difference during sunset and night.

A temple built by a noble woman in memory of her late noble husband. Lots of other temples in this area of Kyoto. Highly recommended if you visit Kyoto. The place is not flat. Be prepared to climb and descend steps. Worth it!

The way the temple was prepared is a cultural heritage site. Beautiful to visit during autumn season. Suggest to buy tickets in advance as the line can get long at night even during weekdays. Only suggestion is to please remove the advertisements of American Express because it’s so tacky (too American) and out of place in the temple.

Visited on 26/10/23. Beautiful serene temple. We visited as other tourists had recommended the bamboo forest in the temple garden and indeed it was really lovely and peaceful. There were only a few visitors so we were able to enjoy the bamboo grove and temple mostly alone. Also encountered a chubby calico cat near the bamboo grove. She was in hurry to go somewhere and didn’t want to stop to say hello. 😂

Came here on a Sunday evening for their light show - I believe this is a seasonal show. It was 600¥ per entry (adult ticket). Stunning night time views of the temple. I would recommend this to anyone in Kyoto looking for a peaceful night time activity.
