It is open for free. Please take a tour together with Matsumoto Castle and the former Kaichi School♪ There is no parking lot.

Just 10 minutes walk from Matsumoto Castle, an Edo building suddenly appears in a residential area. You can go inside and see everything in the room. I highly recommend it as it will make you think about life in Edo!

Cool little samurai residence. You can tell they put a lot of work into restoring the house. There’s even a bunch of pictures and explanations of how they went about the restorations. There are a few signs in English but I used the google translate camera function and learned a lot more! It’s a nice little quiet excursion away from the castle. I think they are only open on weekends and it’s free.

I couldn't see Kaichi School because it was under construction, so I walked from there. This is a samurai residence located in a residential area. It's free to enter, but it's in good condition, and when I went there on a Saturday, there weren't any tourists. I'm glad I took my time to watch it.
