Great museum ship. Spent two hours walking through the exhibits. Worth an afternoon.

This museum is truly wonderful and shows the history before the tunnel. You can explore the ship deck, control room, train car and engine rooms among other places. The entrance fee is 510 yen! (2023 Oct)

Really nice museum that gives you an idea of Aomori's history. I especially enjoyed learning about the Seikan Tunnel (Shinkansen connection) and being able to go down into the train car and engine rooms. The bridge was also cool! Overall a great experience!

This ship demonstrates the real history for developing Hokkaido area in the past century. The big ferry loads the train and all sorts of supplies from Japan mainland across the straight to Hakodate. This is probably the most educational museum on our trip. The captain's deck is very fun to play for young kids. Almost the whole ship is open for tour. You may allocate more time to spend here than doing meaningless shopping.

A great, well-maintained museum that displays how people and cargo moved between Honshu and Hokkaido before the Seaikan Tunnel opened. One can visit nearly all areas of the ship, including the bridge, the captain's compartment and the engine room. In one of the lower decks, there are some rare rolling stock on display too.
