Good museum on pearls. I learned a lot about pearls. Large pearl store on site. Worth the ticket. Nice place to spend 2 hours. The ama diving demo was boring watching a woman dive and come up with an oyster. Worth it to visit once but probably won't come back.

I got to know about Kokichi Mikimoto in a previous travel in French Polynesia as THE pioneer of pearl farming. This museum was so interesting and the displays so we'll organized that I spent more than four hours in it! The History of the Pearls was the most comprehensive I've found so far around the world and the jewels displays were superb. While many people skip it, I strongly suggest to check also his memorial which explain his life, quite a journey of setbacks and perseverance! The famous ama divers exhibition is done basically every hour, it is a treat to see this ancient tradition live. Great experience, even people not particularly keen on pearls will enjoy it.
