Museum of Morioka City history. Very well organized exhibition with educational materials from different eras. If you wish to learn more about this city, this is the place to be.

A must visit in morioka. The special exhibition is worth the price of admission for the extra great displays.

A good place to learn about the history of Morioka and Iwate Prefecture. Do go and visit after seeing the Castle Ruins.

Surprisingly good! The first floor is free. There is a cafe, gift shop and some displays where you can learn about the festivals of Morioka. The second floor costs 300 yen and displays the history of Morioka and a special exhibit. Definitely recommend, even if you just watch the videos of life in Morioka in 1923. There isn't a lot of English signage, but I was surprised by the quality of the displays. You can also see a pocket watch and pistol given to the Nambu clan by Queen Victoria for helping some sailors.
