The hike from the ropeway station to the Mt. Misen Observatory involves a considerable uphill trek, but the stunning vistas at the summit make the roughly 30-minute effort immensely rewarding. However, there are a few cautionary notes to keep in mind: - Ensure you allow ample time for the return hike to the ropeway station, as the last cable car departs at 4:30 PM. We learned the importance of this the hard way, finding ourselves in a hurried dash downhill to catch the last car, a journey that took a brisk, sweat-inducing 20 minutes. - Also, be prepared for the possibility of not having access to toilet facilities. It's worth noting that the observatory's toilet may be closed due to water freezing in winter.

After a long 1hr hike up the mountain, this is definitely worth the pain and suffering especially with a bag of luggage. The view was like no other, incredible views of Hiroshima and the bay.

The view from Mt Misen’s summit is absolutely stunning, and well worth the trek for anyone with legs that can handle it. The journey from the gondola (ropeway) station is about 20-25 minutes at a normal walking pace but plan on a 2-3 hour trip to or from the base of the mountain (Daishoin temple/Rokaku Tea House). The hike has a ton of stairs (about 70 flights of largely uneven steps) with lots of inclines in between. The trails are all beautifully preserved, highly-travelled and well-marked, so you’ll have no problem finding your way. But you need strong calves and a spirit of adventure to enjoy this gorgeous hike. I would not recommend doing the hike on a rainy day as your chance of slipping or falling strongly increases! It is definitely worth it though!!

This place was definitely worth visiting. Beautiful views that start on the way up. Once you arrive at the top of the lifts you can enjoy a long walk to the top of the mountain to be rewarded with even more beautiful views. I would not recommend the walk up when traveling with little children. I would recommend to go early, maybe even try catching one of the first lifts as it does get crowded around noon.

It’s best if there is good weather. The observatory has a large sitting platform. A number of people will bring drinks and food to eat and enjoy the view. Given the height of the observatory, it is a good place to escape the heat. Be aware they do not sell drinks or food at the observatory. Please plan the time accordingly as it is still a approximately a 30 minute walk from the ropeway. The hike varies significantly. With one of the longer walks taking up to 2hrs.
