Admission fee is ¥210, cash only. Although my understanding deepened, I was shocked to see that the top of the mountain had been scraped away. 2024/3/3

Mt. Buko. It is the soul of Chichibu citizens. Although it is a symbol of Chichibu, I had no idea why it was carved down so much in the first place, so I was able to learn about the origins of Mt. Buko, the animals that inhabit it, what it looked like in the past, the mining that continues today, and the greening movement. . It's cheap at 210 yen, so make sure to visit it when you come to the observation deck.

A short detour from my hike around Chichibu, brief overview of the area and its main mountain. The staff were kind and polite

The limestone of Mt. Buko has been excavated from fossilized teeth of primitive fish called conodonts and bivalves.フズリナなどの炭酸カルシウムの殻や骨格を持つ生物の死骸が海底に堆積して誕生したもの。 Mt. Buko, which was formed by moving with the oceanic plate over an incredibly long period of time, has a limestone layer only on the northern slope of the Chichibu urban area, where limestone is mined as a raw material for cement, and below that and on the southern slope. Greenstone (basalt) is distributed. Here, in the center of the exhibition room, we have installed a three-dimensional topography centered around Mt. Buko. There are interesting exhibits such as the changing appearance of Mt. Buko, plants that grow naturally in the Mt. Buko limestone area, and the uses of limestone.
