A mandatory place to see when visiting Nagoya. A beautiful castle that shows the Japanese history of architecture. Entrance is ¥500 for adults and Free for children. I highly recommend allocating enough time to visit the place—There are several things to see on site, like a battle reenactment as well as few souvenir shops. There is an area near the east gate entrance where you can take photos of ninjas and people in traditional kimonos and yukatas—Not to mention the @Nagoya sign!! There are also eateries where you can grab a tea or coffee and chat.

The actual castle is closed to the public which is a shame but you can walk inside some other buildings. The castle is still very impressive from the outside and the castle grounds are lovely to walk around. Worth a visit when in Nagoya.

Good place to visit in Nagoya. The main castle is closed for visitors, however some of residential building is open for public. There is also free volunteer guides tours you can join. They are very friendly and English speaking. A must go place when you visit Nagoya.

Is not a bad place to be. You also get to go into one of the houses that kept of the nice paintings on the doors, ceiling etc. I enjoyed it because the artworks are so sophisticated and refined. You need to Q and remove your shoes. If you have big baggage, you will need to put into the locker. Don’t worry, you will get the money back. One thing to note, please be considerate and don’t talk too loud and walk too fast creating a lot of sound on the wooden floor, it will affect those that is trying to appreciate the artworks. The only disappointment was you cannot go up the castle. It was not open to public.

You can see the amazing castle from close by, and also go walk inside the old Nagoya residence of the Shogun which had a really pretty traditional Japanese interior (no furniture though). It's surrounded by a park and a gravel field that was really spacious and the whole place was not crowded when we went on Tuesday afternoon, even though it is Chinese New year, which was nice. Small entry fee, tickets can be bought at the main gate.
