I have been here few times in few years, if you just visiting Nagoya, go first to Honmaru Castle. Restored wooden palace is such an amazing place to visit, such a great experience. I think it is really an architectural marvel. The whole castle complex is worth visiting, go there in the morning preferably on a weekday, there is seasonal exhibitions take place. Like in the Autumn, different exhibitions for flowers, or Bonsai trees, etc. Walk around and enjoy this great place. There is place to rest if it's too hot outside and some nice little cafe and restaurants around the castle.

Free to enter after you paid for castle grounds and worth a quick visit. Apart from a few chests and decorated rooms there is also an interesting layout to see but nothing more. Moreover remember this is a restoration not an original piece, though still a nice one.

An interesting insight to how the palace used to look like and restored by amazing craftsmen down to every tiny detail. It was a peaceful calm slowly observing each room as visitors were politely following the walkways and being respectful of their surroundings. They offer audio guides in various languages for a small fee (iirc ¥100) and lockers for shoes and larger bags.

You will need to pay for admission to Nagoya castle to come here. Inside is extremely beautiful. The golden walls were stunning. Many rooms to enjoy. Definitely go if you’re in Nagoya!

Once in, this place is surprisingly large, with plenty of rooms to look at. All the rooms, floor ceilings, everything is so well made and lavish. The craftsmanship is a wonder to look at, and would recommend a visit. Take your time to walk around and take in all the art. Beautiful.
