Kumano Ancient Road Gate is an ancient road with a history of thousands of years, here is the starting point of Kumano Ancient Road. A 20-minute walk to Kumano-Nachi Taisha.

The Kumano Kodo is a web of ancient trials covering over 100 km across the Wakayama forest. There are numerous starting & ending points. Most visitors only walk a short part of it.

The stairs could be quite slippy so please make sure you bring the right shoes.

Go up the stairs and be amazed by the pagoda, the temples and everything up there. I believe it's a better reward after you put in some effort than just going up by bus. It's also less than 30 mins so why not.

Loved this short walk, fairly easy gently incline but steps can be slippery when wet.

Really scenic walk and flanked by old cedars. There's a huge loads of steps so take your time if you are planning on walking towards. This same route can be done walking downwards instead from the Nachi Taisha
