This cave and the mountains around are astonishing. For 900¥ and free parking you can experience a nice half day here. Maybe because of winter and/or rain there where not a lot of people, but I saw on the website that in summer or high Saisons you need to wait sometime. So overall if you fit enough to hike in a cave for around 1 hour and maybe not bigger than 1,90m, it’s a perfect half day activity in Tokyo. You need around 2-4 hours depending on car or train/bus if you coming from the center of Tokyo. So big recommendation from me 💪🏻 PS: it’s also worth to check out the place from outside the river and also mountains are so beautiful 🥰

Awesome side trip from Tokyo. I loved to drive the road headed to this spot. Full greenery. 2 hours are enough for this spot except travel time. Public bus too runs till this spot. There are ample free parking places available. This spot does have a restaurant wherein nice Japanese food is served. Sorry but people with wheelchair and walking disabilities couldn’t access caves.

Great ancient Limestone cave. Nice experience for those not experienced a cave. Pretty big enough with many paths. Very cool n pleasant with artistic stalagtites stalagmites, streams, some idols and cave pavements. 1-1.5 hour is enough . We can get there by bus from Okutama station, bus no.21. Be careful the bus frequency is less.

Be cation of the certain things before you come to visit . 1. Public transportation won’t take you to the destination boppara limestone caves. Drive to here probably best idea to do. 2. Bring extra warm cloth for cold cations. Don’t wear open toes shoes or any slipper and non-friction shoes. Inside cove have many up and down steps in wet condition. 3. Here is not for injured or disabled people. I saw one gentleman struggle to use walking-stick inside cave. I’m sure it’s not fine.

Inside the cave is really cool and chilly, it is really refreshing experience going away from the busy city to purifying ourselves. The river surrounding the cave is so breathtaking but the cave is simple yet acceptable. But be cautious with your head and slippery area for elderly people!
