Great half day trip from the city. Early March rapeseed flowers in bloom & not at all busy. Buy tree ripened local oranges at the port while waiting for the ferry back! 😋

Great Park on an island next to Fukuoka. Entrance is 1200 Yen and the ferry to the island cost 500 yen. The flower field is so beautiful and you can feed bunnies and goats. This park is also nice for kids. There are places to eat and relax.

At around 13:00 on 17 Oct 2023, I arrived here by bus with no expectations. It was fortunate that I didn’t walk here as the long and winding road isn’t scenic at all. Very leisurely, I caught the 15:10 bus back to the pier.

We decided to visit this island in the hope of seeing the blooming of the cosmos whuch happens each year- we were not disappointed. The views are amazing and the park is very easy to get to by bus. The busses are practically waiting for you when you arrive by ferry. (All of which runs hourly) There are a few restaurants (it is worth taking a brochure which you find at the entrance to the park) to help you navigate where you want to go. Overall a very nice day and worth it.

Beautiful park, but if you visit in the summer, come prepared with a face towel to wipe off sweat. They provide large, colorful umbrellas for guests free of charge to use as a way to block the sun. There are plenty of vending machines for drinks, benches for sitting, and restrooms scattered throughout the park. Lots of playgrounds for kids, too.
