Seeing the glass stained arts in person cannot be compared to any picture, just prepare your self for the entance fees.

We only visited the Stained Glass Museum, but the other elements of the Art Base looked worthwhile.

I was expecting a quaint art gallery in a small town but was very surprised. The stained glass, glass and ceramic art and art nouveau peices rival those in tokyo. a gem tiny a day trips off sapporo, would recommend to anyone.

Don't visit Otaru without visiting this beautiful gallery. I loved the collection of stained glass which is beautifully displayed. The Tiffany collection is fabulous. Although the entrance fee of 2,000 yen (for all three buildings) is a little steep it is definitely worth it.

Have a coffee to view the visitors around the canal. It's very comfortable.
