Heaven for those love music box. All kinds of music box range from reasonable and expensive price. This is an unique handicrafts in Otaru worth a visit. There's a steam clock, will 'sing' during every hour. Hot spot for tourist taking photo here. One thing to note is the walking path is super slippery as the snow beat steps by many people become hard and icey. Be extra careful while walking. Saw few people fall down along the way.

Another attraction/shop of Otaru's must go. The Music Box Musuem has 3 floors of music boxes from different culture, influenced countries and designs! Very beautiful, cute and creative designs of music boxes that you can choose to purchase as well. There is a large choice of music choices ranging from various genres, as well as designs of them. If you're looking to grab some souvenirs this is the best spot. Prices vary based on the sophistication of the designs. This place is very very packed, so please be careful when you're walking around as the music boxes are all over the counters and make sure to adjust your backpacks and avoid hitting them. I think with less people, i would have had a better experience but unfortunately depending on the type of 'crowd', some people can be just inconsiderate and rude. :)

Just went there today. It's a pretty cute spot, but I don't think it's worth all the hype I heard and saw about it. The first floor has many beautiful and cute music boxes, as well as some hair accessories and stuffed animals. The second floor has more music boxes and a few antiques on display. The third floor is like a mini Ghibli shop and has other cute toys. It's a very pretty place, but very overcrowded. Outside the shop there is a steam clock and right next door is the Hello Kitty Cafe with a small shop that has Hokkaido themed merchandise. If you're in the area, it's a nice stop!

It's a place that sells various kinds of music boxes, but it's a place where your eyes and ears are happy.

One of the most wonderful shops I've ever been to. A gorgeous and fascinating 3 story wooden structure from the Meiji period holds a special collection of musical boxes on the second floor, along with some clocks and intriguing antiques. A long window display tells the history of "modernization" and "westernization" in Japan. On the first floor tourists take photos and consider purchasing various trinkets and souvenirs. Located at the eastern end of the principal historical street of Otaru
