Enjoyed the climb up here (even in 35 degrees). Interesting shrines along the way and a great view at the top.

Not to be missed while visiting Hiroshima. With Buddha's ashes and massage of peace and awesome views of the city. Will recommend taking a cab for the quick visit.

You can see the whole scenic of Hiroshima city from this place, not far from the Hiroshima station. For those who love hiking, it’s just a small hiking path. But it amazed me that the mountain is located just behind the Hiroshima station.

Beautiful short hike from Shinkansen exit of Hiroshima station - find path up through forest (red torii gates) behind shrine, 25 minutes climbing staggered stairs on forest trail to silver peace pagoda at top. Clear day views of ocean & islands beyond. View becoming blocked by recent tall skyscrapers. Especially beautiful in early morning, spring cherry blossoms & fall autumn colors. Can go down (or up) following road, but less direct & less beautiful.

An amazing shrine with a great view of Hiroshima. If you have a couple of hours (waiting for a train?) then try the walk from the Togoshu shrine- it is beautiful. I started my walk from the Togoshu Shrine, up through the woods and passed many more hidden shrines. Its quite a big climb (bring water) and gets less and less paved by the top (I think on purpose to make it that little bit more satisfying!) but it was well worth it. On the way down you can take the paved route and walk through the contemporary Japanese neighborhood, as well as feeling intensely smug about your mini hike. See photos for the hike conditions when wet.
