The Only public outdoor sand bath here! Nice experience. Recommended for 10 mins but we stayed in the sand longer. The sand was not too hot, so it was bearable. No, you don't really feel the sand all over your body.. just dust off and it is ok. You will need a towel to wrap your head in the sand, and one for your bathing after the sand bath, both available for purchase if you didn't have them. After sand bath, there was an onsen for you to use before coming out. Overall very pleasant experience.

No mobile phone is allowed in the area. For 1100yen you can try both sand bath and hot spring, very relaxing. Bring your own small towel otherwise it can be bought at 200yen at counter.

The Saraku Sand Bath at Ibusuki is an experience you do not want to miss. You wear a Yutaka and are asked to sleep on the hot sand. You are wrapped with a towel around your neck. The attendants cover you with sand. There is a big clock and the attendants ask you to stay for 10 mins. After the hot sand bath, you can wriggle yourself out of the sand. Then it is off to the onsen to bathe and relax. Too bad they do not allow you to take pictures. This was my first experience being buried in hot sand, and it did feel unique. Great experience.

To get here, ask the tourist info center when you arrive at train station. There is local bus to get here for 160 yen. There is also bus back to station from saraku so check the bus schedule before hand. Not many tourist so no queue at all. Too bad that you can't bring your phone to the sand bath area for a memorable picture... minus one star for that Overall experience was fun & interesting! Highly recommended

under the warm sand 10 minutes, you feel your pulse all around your body. it was relaxing, soothing but for entering the Onsen naked, i was too shy so i just skipped it🙈😅🤭 it was a very clean facility and the workers were there very kind.
