The koi are not in the canal because it is winter. Nothing much to see and kinda of disappointment. Except for the white wall houses.

Nothing beats being there and seeing it. Had a relaxing and enjoyable day exploring Hide Furukawa old town. We had lunch there and the misses picked up some of her shopping too.

Nice little town with historical buildings. Less tourists than in Takayama which is nice. There are several sake breweries, a craft museum and many other things to see

Beautiful street in a beautiful town, short train ride from Takayama if you are not staying in HidaFurukawa. Do note that the carps in canals will NOT be seen during winter months as the locals use canal water for melting snow during winter. Which we found out the hard way but it is still very nice to stroll.

Hida Furukawa is a very quiet town with not many tourists each day but it is charming especially this the streets, the water channel has very clear and there are many koi fish in it. It's another city that I fell in love with.
