Beautiful shrine with the white color and the 御朱印 was sooo colorful! We also loved all the charms with the 3 thousand year old tree! Highly recommend if you are in the area or visiting public library. It is only a 5min walk!

It was a unique shrine and a bit different from the ones I have been to since there is a more than 3,000 year old camphor tree found within the premises. You can visit the tree by going through this path at the back of the shrine and through a mini bamboo forest. This is quite near the Takeo City Library so you might consider visiting that after lingering here for a bit.

We're all here for the tree, right? Takeo Shrine is beautiful. I was quite taken by the white painted walls and light blue accents, having never seen that coloring on a shrine before. Also, the guardian statues were really unique looking (again, I spend most of my time in the Kyoto area, and this was quite unlike what I have seen there). But, but but but, if you read the reviews, it becomes quite clear that most people are coming to witness the 3,000 year old Camphor tree that can be accessed via a path behind the shrine. And that tree should not be missed! If I'm being quite honest, I didn't spend long at the shrine as my main purpose was visiting the tree. Isn't that what was worshipped before shrines existed anyway (water, sun, trees?). As I upload pictures, I realize that I don't even have one of the front of the shrine (I felt at the time I didn't really deserve to take one as I had made a beeline for the path leading to the giant tree). Apologies Takeo Shrine san, next time I will pay proper respects, but I will still be there to see the tree.

It is a shrine near Takeo Natural Hot Spring. This is a shrine where you can feel the Japanese tradition even if it is small. There is a god tree that praises the relationship and good relations between the couple. By the way, this is also famous as a power spot. Please stop by and see when you go to the hot spring. Free parking is available.

The Takeo Shrine is very nice and well maintained. We visited in mid April and the flowers were starting to bloom and cherry blossoms were almost all gone. The Giant Camphor behind the Shrine is amazing. You can no longer walk all the way up to the tree, but you can see that there is a small shrine inside the hallowed out portion of the tree. Free parking at the Shrine. Really enjoyed the visit.
