A long pedestrian street in the heartbeat of Sapporo with a variety of shops including amusement game arcade, restaurants, pharmacies and bar. The street is sheltered so it was unaffected by the snowfall during my visit.

Plenty of shops selling local delicacy, pharmacy, restaurants and entertainment center. Fully covered open air and very crowded during evening.

Picked the hotel next to Tanukikoji and it was a great choice. This street is full of all kind of shops and dining places. My hotel has a path directly connect to the street and you walk in and out with shopping bags easily.

Loved the eclectic mix of things to buy here. From mega-Don (Road 4) to the second hand clothes stores (Road 1) or the restaurants scattered all around, including the single pet shop and fruit store, you will be spoilt for choice! ADVICE: those going to ski resorts from Sapporo, you have better buy your snow sleds for the kids here. Resort either don’t have them or sell them at exorbitant prices! There is a wonderful knife shop too! Excellent quality and reasonable prices. Not many photos here as my hands were full!

Tanukikoji Shopping Street is a traditional Japanese shopping street located next to Nijo Market. It’s a great place to explore if you’re looking for a variety of shops and restaurants. You can find many souvenirs, clothing, and food items here. However, if you’re looking for something unique or special, you may be disappointed, as there are no standout shops or attractions. The street is around 500m long so it wont take you long to walk through it.
