It is located at the foot of Shiroyama, where the ruins of Tokushima Castle are located, in Tokushima Central Park, on the opposite side of the main entrance of Tokushima Station. Admission fee is 300 yen including the adjacent Tokushima Castle Omotemote Garden. The garden is also beautiful, so I recommend you to take a look around it as well. Photography is prohibited inside the museum except in the entrance lobby, so I was unable to take photos of the exhibits. Inside the museum, you will find information on the changes in the administration of the Tokushima domain and the Hachisuka family, the lord of the domain, a model of Tokushima Castle and the castle town, and life in the castle town. The Senzanmaru, a navy ship of the Tokushima clan, is on display, and is the only Japanese ship built in the Edo period that is extremely rare and valuable, and is designated as a national important cultural property. When I think of existing castle towers, I think of the 12 existing castle towers. Four of the 12 castle towers are in Shikoku, but unfortunately Tokushima Castle is only a castle ruin, so there are no ``existing 12 castle towers'' in Tokushima Prefecture. However, Tokushima Castle is included in Japan's top 100 castles.

Nice place to sit down, relax, and enjoy the cherry blossom trees.

As most of the castle has been destroyed, the museum stands in its place. There are plenty of artifacts inside and seeing as all of the labels are in Japanese, non Japanese speakers need to rely on the guide book. The surrounding gardens are serene and stunning, the highlight of our visit. Only 50 Yen too!
