Quaint, beautiful, quiet. I did not get the Ponyo reference, but it's a coastal town with great vibes anyway.

Quiet, clean and beautiful town. Similar to Ise bay in that houses 🏠 are lined up along the bay, doing various small businesses like cafes, souvenirs, crafts and museum exhibits. Walk or drive along the small roads from the tourist centre to the stone lighthouse to find resemblances to the Ponyo movie 🎥. Around 1 hour or so is a good amount of time to explore this seaside town.

Peaceful and beautiful. Plus, every shop owner I spoke to was wonderful and generous. Made for a nice stop on a long bike ride.

I super love this place , Very old town and i feel back in an old era, during my visit to this town in May of this year 2023 , i feel happy walking alone and the place is realy refreshing, maybe one of the oldest town in Japan, if you want far from husstle city this town is for you, there are lots of things to do in this place while walking you will see those restaurant , the famous ice cream shop with fresh mochi, the Fuku zenji, and many more During my visit its cold weather with shower
