Great building, Nice exhibit. All of the written commentary for the exhibits was in japanese. No problem- It would be nice if tourists could access a QR code or recording that has translation into another language. Japan has a wonderful heritage and culture but often only the Japanese can access it fully.

Historical site near Toyama City. I am lucky to witness flocks of cranes resting at the tree next to this historical architecture. Serendipity and occasionally you will also hear cranes communicating to one another. This is an unforgettable experience for me as I hardly had this rare opportunity watching these birds not one, but more than 30s, resting on the tree branches. Simply amazing and had it not due to time constraints, I would sit nearby this beautiful place watching the birds and hopefully catch the sunset here as well. I made a right decision to visit Toyama!

Worth the visit specially for the nice view inside the castle and the Museum of the Jpanese Paintings nearby. The little japanese Park ist a Gem, with clear water, beautiful trees and small bridges.

Lovely grounds and beautiful castle. Inside is a museum with artifacts from the original caste as well as some art and other displays. I would say combine this castle with some of the local shrines and temples in Toyama and you have yourself a great full day trip. Toyama-Jo is often overlooked by foreign visitors so I would give it a try just to avoid the crowds at other castles and experience some more Maeda Clan history.

Incredibly beautiful place! Media presentation each 3 minutes about castle’s history and many historical artifacts. Upper deck has an amazing view of river and gardens. Has a parking lot including for buses. I recommend you pay a visit!
