Okay I saw a review here criticizing there were not enough Japanese cars and they had all these other cars first of all there were tons of extremely rare Japanese cars more than you would expect second of all the other cars they had I'd say about half of them are so rare you probably won't see them anywhere else maybe even 75% of them they were ridiculously rare and they were historic for a reason the first electric car the first front wheel drive car things like that they were amazing the place was exceptional the only thing I would criticize about that museum is it was so hot in there why they have to have the temperature up that high is beyond me when it's winter outside and most people are dressed for winter

Great museum for any motoring enthusiasts with a large number of cars displayed in showroom fashion here, along with other exhibits on car culture and media. There were a surprising number of American and European cars on display, though there were certainly a number of Japanese classics too. Concept is on the evolution of automobiles throughout history so that makes sense. Location wise it's kind of in between Nagoya and Toyota city so may take a bit of time to get there from either.

An excellent car museum, but very few Toyota cars and perhaps only a dozen Japanese cars in total in possibly Japan's best car museum. Most of the other cars I've seen many times in many museums around the world. Lots of American cars. America has great car museums stuffed with American cars. What we don't have much of in the world are museums with Japanese cars. It seems that the Japanese don't rate their own cars too highly, and that is a shame. The cars are all very well looked after, presented in bright studio lighting with photographic backdrops, and some really interesting items including President Roosevelt's 1939 Packard 12. But the museum is a long way out of the centre from Nagoya - about an hour on the metro with two journeys. It took up an entire day of our Japan trip, as a stopover between Tokyo and Kyoto. You'll need to decide if it's worth your time when you can see the same things probably at home. There is a great toy display, and you can buy lots of the cars you can't see on show as die cast models in the gift shop.

Spent about 2 hours there. You could spend longer or shorter depending on your interest in cars. The exhibits themselves may be a bit boring for young kids but the culture exhibit is more kid friendly. They have student discounts (need to check ID), and senior discount. Washrooms were very clean and spacious. The gift shop was smaller than I had hoped. I really appreciated how they laid the exhibits out in chronological order to tell the story of the automobile industry in Japan. I liked how they included the history of other Japanese car makers and not just Toyota’s. I would’ve liked more information about Toyota cars and models specifically. Easy to get to by driving. Plenty of parking. Easy enough by transit. A short walk away with clear signs at the station to lead you there.

If you’re visiting Nagoya, the Toyota Automotive Museum visit is a must. You can get here easily via subway - super easy. The museum is an automotive history, so you will see cars from different manufacturers from around the world. The collection of cars is incredible and you’ll remember certain cars that you just don’t see on the roads anymore.
