Three shrines (with Tsubaki the main one) located on the same grounds. Goshuin available for all three. The shrine starts with an impressive gate with old statues and the area has a flight of steps out to Tsubaki Shrine, with the other two at the bottom. Mostly concreted over, with some foliage to the sides, but very well kept and has a peaceful atmosphere. Loved by locals and apparently extremely crowded at New Year. Three shrines (Tsubaki Shrine is the main shrine) are located in the same precincts. There are three types of goshuin. The shrine begins with an impressive gate with an old statue, and the area has stairs leading up to the Tsubaki Shrine, the other two at the bottom. It's mostly covered in concrete, with some foliage planted on the sides, but it's very well maintained and has a peaceful atmosphere. It is loved by locals and is said to be very crowded during the New Year.

Iyozuhikomei Shrine is known for its camellia flowers. Commonly known as Tsubaki Shrine. If you're familiar with Ehime, you've probably heard the saying, "It's the coldest around the Camellia Festival." The three days of the camellia festival are the busiest. Prosperous business! People from businesses to people who love festivals gather here. The approach to the shrine is lined with stalls. On the other hand, it is very crowded, so if you come by car, you will have a hard time finding a parking lot.

I love this Shrine, especially the New Year Matsuri which happens every February there. I know, it’s not on a tourist route, but if you happen to be there at the festival time, please go and watch the events, listen to strange explanations of what is going and the stories behind it and enjoy delicious food from the multiple stalls or buy a good luck charm, especially if you need good luck. If you enjoy Japanese poetry - pay attention to the fence - it has a lot of poems written on the poles.

The shrine is very pretty, especially in the spring. We loved visiting first thing in the morning after the rain: there were not many people, and all of the blooms were beautiful. If you’re in the area, the drive or walk up to the shrine is very pretty and worth it. There are a few cherry trees and lots of Tsubaki, so enjoy the blooms!
