The Yanaka cemetery is one of the biggest cemeteries in Tokyo. So many public figures rest in peace. Among them, Yoshinobu Tokugawa, the last shogun of the Edo period is the most famous. Rest in peace!

Yanaka Cemetery is a renowned cherry blossom spot. The whole street is adorned with blooming cherry blossoms 🌸 When you visit the Ueno area in April, I highly recommend stopping by—it's truly beautiful! 😍

Beautiful big cemetery of Tokyo’s last 200 years important and wealthy persons and families. Integrated with the neighborhood so you can walk in, out and through as if normal walkways. Near the railroad tracks also good views of Tokyo Skytree.

Looks good during cherry blossom full bloom period. My parents like it a lot. You can walk to Ueno Park from here and get to see beautiful sight seeing along the way. Visited on March 27, 2023.

While a cemetery isn’t the first thing most people would think of as a place to visit, this is a great place to stop if you were already planning on going to Taito for something else like the ginza shopping street. The cemetery is very pretty, quiet, and the random cats are actually pretty friendly (with how well fed they looked, they probably weren’t feral cats). If you are already in the area and looking for something unique to do for an hour or so, it’s definitely worth checking out.
