quaint little town, very homely feel! i went on a monday morning, i guess i wont recommend Mondays as half of the shops are not in operations as they were open on sunday. (many shops in japan in quieter townships are closed on monday / tuesday ) easy stroll with variety of mini shops i didn’t see any stray cats but signs of them were all around because you can spot empty bowls almost at every other junction. overall nice spot to escape from the hustle and human crowd. recommend to head to Nippori fabric town after this one … or move on over to Ueno area after here via the JR Yamamote line from Nippori station.

A neighbourhood which is frozen by time and separated from the modern Tokyo. Lots of small family run stores in the area. It is a 20 mins walk from Yanaka Ginza to Ueno Park where you will walk pass some more small unique shops, museums and the old ceremony with a serenity vibe.

A very quaint street that has a mix of old stores selling traditional sweets (commercial and handmade), tempura item and quite a few places selling memorabilia that is cat themed. Had some elders showing anyone interested how to spin a traditional steel top. It was very different experience from the harajiku type streets packed with youngsters and tourists. And there are a few heritage shrines scattered within peaceful cemeteries that are good for a stroll.

One of the fun place ! This old market give you the "going to old time" impact. They sell food and tea also. If you want nostalgic and find some japanese arts, visit here. If you are cat lover, you will also love being here. I just have no idea why there's a Turkish corner there.. So might need do research.

Lovely street, of what seems like more local Tokyo residential homes, with cute shops, some amazing high end baked goods (Florentines, cheesecakes, bagels etc) stores. Had excellent street food, and lots of pretty temples and beautiful cemeteries. Not much open on a Monday so come another day if you can.
