This is a cute little area within the town of Yufuin. It's mostly character stores, with a focus on Ghibli. It's well stocked and the prices aren't any more than you'd see anywhere else. There's one unified cashier for all the little Ghibli shops so don't let that confuse you.

I really like this place. It's very beautiful. This place is a long, small alley, but there are many zones. I haven't walked through all of them yet, so I feel very disappointed, but I like the decorations in the various zones. Makes you feel like you've gone into a fairytale world. I feel very warm. Along the way, there are shops selling souvenirs and food. The inside of the shop is decorated very cutely. The seller provided good service and smiled. At that time I went to eat grilled potatoes and it was extremely delicious. The weather was nice. I want to go again.🥹❤️

There are some nice things in the shops, but there are just too many Chinese and Korean tourists, many of whom are quite rude. I got the sense that many local workers are tired of the whole thing also. And I feel very sorry for the animals - they are kept in such close quarters in a very stressful environment. :(

They should really do something about the traffic, especially during festive season and public holidays. It's a safety hazard. Food stalls provided lots of options and specialty shops, cafes and petting zoos great for family w/ children.

It is a cute but extremely small area. You can walk from one end to another within a single minute. I was really bothered by how they kept bunnies and guinea pigs outdoor as tourist attraction in the -7C freezing cold, there is obviously plenty of animal cruelty going on in this place. The place has an artificial tourist trap feel, but for some reason it is super popular amongst tour operators. There are always at least 10 tourist bus of people roaming around this tiny area. If you want to take pictures arrive just before the 930 am opening time (promptly around 930 the buses full of tourists start arriving). If you are only thinking of stopping by Yufuin because of the floral village, it might be a disappointment. If you want to take cute coffee pics there is Snoopy cafe next door (but their food is really bad, save your money for a better meal). On the other hand lake Kinrin and the street closer to the station are very charming. There are some nice onsens in town but in my opinion Kurokawa is better and more scenic. The only reason I didn't regret coming to Yufuin is because our ryokan (Hoteiya) was really nice (and also more picturesque than the floral village).
