A historical museum built on the ruins of Obi Castle. The storehouse-like building, which is said to be modeled after an old castle palace, catches the eye. There is a fee to enter, but on this day it was open to the public for free in conjunction with the DENKEN WEEK event. The main focus of the exhibition is an introduction to the townscape of Obi, its history, and works of art that have been passed down through the generations of the Ito clan, the feudal lord. The cityscape of the castle town that remains in modern times is introduced in detail through projection mapping, so it will be a good reference for walking around the city. In addition, the armor, swords, and other items passed down from the Obi clan are all splendid. The luxurious decoration of the palanquin, which is said to have carried a princess, is particularly eye-catching. Although the exhibition area is not large, it is a facility where you can learn more about Obi.

A historical museum that uses a storehouse inside the castle. You can learn about the history of the Ito family, which ruled Obi and competed with the great power of Satsuma. I can feel the love for my hometown.

Lots of objects from the Edo period from two clans local to Obi area. Kimonos, combs, intricate samurai armours, banners, old maps, swords etc... Unfortunately not a lot of signage in English.

With a combi ticket you can check out several buildings and museums in the area. If you have never seen old style Japanese houses, this might be a good change for you. Unfortunately, most of the explanations are in Japanese, so you might not be able to enjoy it completely. It was a nice walk around, but nothing very special...
