Kotonoura Onzan Manor
370 Funoo, Kainan, Wakayama 642-0001, Japan
The name ``Onzanso'' was given by Marshal Togo Heihachiro at the request of an old man with the pseudonym ``Onzan.'' Initially, it was used to maintain the health of old men, but during his lifetime it became open to the general public. After the old man's death, he established the Kotonoura Onzan Manor Foundation (currently a public interest incorporated foundation, certified in July 2011) according to his will, and the foundation manages it. In 2010, the garden was designated as a national scenic spot and the building was designated as an important cultural property by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.

At Onzanso, known as the villa of Mr. Nita Chojiro, Hinamatsuri is held from mid-February to the end of March 2024. It is said to be 1.5 times larger than Kobe's baseball stadium, Gosiwon, so it would be fun to roughly imagine how big it is. It is said that he contributed greatly to the innovation of Japan's industrial belt and to decorating homes with Benida boards, so you can feel from every corner of the park that he had a lot of interaction with upper-class social figures. Furthermore, After passing through the tunnel created to bring in the sea breeze into the park, you will come to a place called Private Beach. You can think of the upper-class life of that time with a shout of “Wow!”

It was built in the Taisho period, so it's not that old, but it has a medieval feel to it. Walking around the manor gives you a peaceful feeling.

This is the villa of the founder of Belt Nitta. The gardens and buildings are well worth seeing, but I also feel the attention to detail in the transoms and sliding door handles. The director was also friendly and gave detailed explanations. If you answer the museum director's quiz correctly, you will receive a gift, but it is a very difficult question and so far only one person has answered correctly.
