I would not recommend on a one day tour. The building looks fabulous from outside but inside there is not much to see, except the first hall where they have details about the building itself and how it was built, etc.

Quiet and interesting. Aside from the rich architecture there were several displays of famous Akita artists' work, like a metalworker and woodblock printer. English language signage was informative and well-translated.

From the outside the building is very nice. Unfortunately all the shutters were down and looked like it had been that way for some time. There was a sign on the front door but couldn't understand it. If your planning on coming to see this building from the inside, it'd be well worth investigating whether it's going to be open. Still nice to see from the outside though.

As a former local bank of Akita, the Red Brick Museum is a wonderful place to visit for sightseeing. You can learn so much about the history of banking in Akita and Japan when you visit. The design also reminded me of European 1800's style more than Japanese style, which was quite interesting You must visit here if you are in Akita

Good place to spend an hour or so out of the cold of Akita city.
