This was my favourite place in Nagasaki. Best sunset I have ever seen and the view of the city at night was incredible. It was cold at the top in March but there is a little cafe selling hot drinks inside.

A must visit if you can!!! I was debating whether going or not since I was doing a half day trip from Fukuoka (6hrs). The view is absolutely amazing. The round trip using the ropeway costs 1250¥. There’s some food and stores you can find upstairs.

It was a very cold February night up the hill to the observatory. We had intended to hike up after dinner but the cold was challenging. Great views of city and lighting f surrounding areas from above including the broadcasting towers. Also impressive is the tram car which is self leveling and providing 360* viewing.

The night view of Nagasaki is one of Japan's top three night views. Therefore, I do not recommend going by car at night. In the worst case scenario, you won't be able to get into the parking lot and will have to wait for over an hour. Be sure to take the ropeway to the top of the mountain at night. The ropeway is 1,250 yen for adults round trip.

This site provides the most picturesque view of the Nagasaki night sky. You could just gaze at the sheer expanse of the city here for hours (the pictures and video really couldn’t capture the beauty seen). Would highly recommend making a trip up here in the evening around sunset. The parking lot into the observatory can get full easily. The other option is to park at the slope car station slightly below (around 100m and it’s free). The slope car is 500 yen 2 way. But you can walk it as well, around 10-15 minutes)
