After visiting Ise Grand Shrine, we visited the Jingu Chokokan Museum, which was a valuable experience to learn deeply about the history and culture of the shrine and Ise. The first thing that caught my eye was the number of sacred treasures used in rituals at the shrine. The elaborate decorations and beautiful colors created a sacred atmosphere. In particular, the sacred treasures designated as important cultural properties made me feel the weight of history. There was also a wealth of materials that conveyed the history of the shrine. I was able to learn about how Ise Jingu has existed as the center of Japanese history and culture, including its origins and changes, visits by successive emperors, and more. The folklore materials from the Ise region were also interesting. The materials related to Ise Grand Shrine's Shikinen Sengu and the exhibits that conveyed the lifestyle and culture of the Ise region made me feel the close relationship between the shrine and the local people. The museum is large and has a lot of exhibits, so you will need about 2 hours to fully explore it. If you rent an audio guide, you can listen to more detailed explanations. When visiting Ise Grand Shrine, be sure to also visit the Jingu Chokokan. I think you will deepen your understanding of the shrine and have a more fulfilling worship experience. ## Recommended points * You can see the precious sacred treasures of the shrine up close * You can learn about the history and culture of Ise Jingu * You can learn about the relationship between the shrine and the local people through folklore materials from the Ise region. When visiting the shrine, be sure to also visit the Jingu Chokokan.

Wait for an Exhibit event to be happening as the collection is not very big. Even though this was the governmental guest house. Not much history about it.

The architecture itself is worth visiting. Lots of Ise Jingu related historic material on display here. There're also two more museums to visit. Ticket combo available for a discount price.
