Pleasant spacious shrine complex, located on the east side of Tsuruga.

A very beautiful, tranquil spiritual place set amongst tall trees which add to its peaceful surroundings, there’s a water fountain here that you can sprinkle on your hands and is said to bring you good health and fortune-I took a bath in it (just kidding). I was reading that the original shrine has been around since 692AD but the site was destroyed during the bombings of WW2 this was late rebuilt in 1945, the Tori Gate was originally built in 1902 and survived the devastation of WW2, I hope this spiritual place is around for a very long time to come.

This shrine is really worth a visit, the torii gate is very majestic and a significant one as one of the 3 major wooden torii gate in Japan. It remains really well maintained too. Practically no other visitors when we visited which adds to the serenity of the place once you enter.

Visited Kehi Jungu Shrine on a snowy day.. The shrine is a major cultural site and one of the three major wooden torii gates in Japan (alongside Kasuga-Taisha in Nara and Itsukushima Jinja in Hiroshima).. and don’t forget the Longevity Water to pray for good health 😊

Beautiful Shrine. May be the biggest shrine over there. Just about 10min by walk from Tsuruga station. You can spend a peaceful time over there.
