Pretty quiet place, mostly locals and not much tourist.

It’s a nice temple with a lot of stairs or a very steep hill to drive up. It’s also not worth taking the cable car as it’s only a few metres long so better to walk, better for those who struggle with the heat or have a disability. Great view of Wakayama from the top of the temple, historic but not the best I’ve been to.

Probably the most popular and the largest of the Wakanoura region shrines. Several eclectic shrines located up a significant number of stairs. Free if you take the stairs, payment required if you take the cable car. Worth a bit of time wandering around. Skip the spring, which seems to just be a covered well that attracts a lot of hungry mosquitoes.

One of the oldest temples in Japan with a massive eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva statue. It also had 231 steps to get to the top. Talk about an opportunity to contemplate about life.

I've given this lovely temple only 3 stars because...there were a lot.....of stairs.....to climb..... Nonetheless, it was a wonderful experience and as other guides have said, the view from the top is amazing. A must-see if you're in Wakayama.
