The intention of my visit was to see the Evangelion public toilet and also the shrine location, which is featured in the anime. The shrine was really beautiful! Thank you so much for the wonderful goshuin that you wrote in my book! I love it so much and really enjoyed my visit to this area.

Beautiful view on the mountain top, can see very well mount Fuji and the amazing valley next to kintoki mountain

Really interesting.... besides beautiful and peaceful shrine. The shrine is located at the foot of mount ashigara...the birthplace of Kintaro - a Japanese folktale hero. There's a huge battle axe (Kintaro's hatchet). At the rest area...there are the all-white chickens (silky chickens) running around. One can buy chicken feed and play with the chickens. If anyone wants to help out the shop owners, people can also try splitting wood in half like Kintaro. :D There are free toilets near by and the kintoki Jinja iriguchi tozan bus stop. At least two hiking trails pass through this point... sengokuhara as well as kintokiyama course.

This was probably my favorite shrine I've been to. The people were juat awesome! While waiting for my goshuincho to be signed, the people who worked at the shrine treated us to green tea, sake, and a few snacks! They even played a prank on one of my friends which was hilarious!

Simple Shrine at the base of Mount Kintoki The shrine is located at the base of mount kintoki on the route you trek towards the summit. Access is off bus stop 549 with a 2 minute walk there after. The famous axe is located just in front of the shrine including some history of the famous folklore hero of the time which is quite interesting.
