Quite a nice seafood market without many tourists like in Osaka and Kyoto. The food are reasonably priced and fresh

The food was good, it was not crowed when i when there. The seafood usually fresh and you can cut some price (if you could speak with them in Japanese). There are many restaurant inside the market which you can enjoy fresh seafood on rice (with a various price). If you come by train, you can take the bus from Tsuruga station or you can take a taxi (about 1600/1700¥, 10 min).

A good size fresh seafood local market. They get their seafood from local port. We are here at the right season for the special crab, Echizen. These crabs are only available during November to March. Fresh Echizen is quite expensive but super delicious both in raw and cooked. If you buy the live Echizen, they can prepare for you. There number of restaurants serving sushi.

I have been to the Tokyo, Osaka and Kanazawa sea food market, and this is by far the best I would say. Really cheap price and good food... Really really fresh ! Price will go down when market is gonna close soon , and I bought a box of salmon roes for 2000 yen only, compared to the original price 3000 yen. This area is also famous for crab and they are delicious !
