A historic site important in Japanese history. The largest rebuilt wooden old castle in Japan.

Excellent descriptions and exceptional craftsmanship in building reconstruction. Really loved the calligraphy collection and historical documents about the opening up of Japan to Western cultures. Free entry.

Didn't explore the inside of Saga Castle Ruins due to time restraint. Heard it is free to enter. Need to take off shoes before entering. The exterior Saga Castle Ruins didn't have much to explore, spacious spaces to walk.

Nicely reconstructed and free to enter. Interesting historical info in both English and Japanese. If you are lucky you might see some wedding photos being taken there really matches the atmosphere with traditional costumes.

Didn't expect much from this reconstructed castle. (Traveled from Kurume to Saga for lunch. The restaurant opened at 11am, and we had about an hour to kill.) However, we were really impressed with the exhibits and the overall experience. Everything were really well done. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
