Visited in January 2020. Art museum that opens to public since 1970 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the start of the Meiji Period. Also another piece of great brutalist architecture. The museum exhibits a collection of paintings, sculptures, crafts mainly from the modern and contemporary eras with connection to Saga Prefecture. Architecture by Teiichi Takahashi and Yoshichika Uchida.

This was a really fun couple hours in the heart of Saga city. The museum details Saga Prefecture’s long history and its people. It was nice strolling leisurely around the exhibits. I really enjoyed learning about the first people to come to Saga and I especially liked the information on the Meiji period. I do wish there was more information translated to English or other languages as only some pieces were translated. This is a great spot to relax and escape from a rainy day.
