The 3 days ceremony held at Ohara Sanzenin, Northern Western portion of Kyoto City, obliged me to visit there after 50 years interval since last dropping. Avoiding hustle and bustle because of National holidays, did it I on weekday, but my intention became in vain, all the cooked radish for free of charge were served thoroughly away before my turn, how come? Smaller burk of my lunch for the purpose also aroused my dissatisfaction? In order to wipe away such an unfavorable condition, I stayed there for 3 hours for photo shooting till evening.

Good and chill place to visit. There's tourists but not as much as the typical kyoto spots

The Sanzen-in Temple is a place that I have visited for a couple of times, and I will still pay for a visit in future when I come to Kyoto. A quietly environment, feeling calm when you entered into it. Suggest to buy the scent (joss) sticks. The scent is subtle but makes you feeling fulfilled and calm for the whole day.

Absolutely loved this temple! The architecture was gorgeous, the atmosphere was very peaceful. Paid for the tea serving and it tasted like the forest itself. The garden surrounding the temple was impeccable and it was obvious how much time was put into its curation. It was filled with soft moss, twisting roots, and tall trees, rivulets and miniature waterfalls, bridges, and tiny statues peppered throughout! I visited in autumn, and although it was very warm in Kyoto, it did get a bit chilly so I’d definitely recommend bringing a windbreaker or sweater if you’re visiting during this season. When you arrive at the bus station, cross the road and follow the winding path signs for about twenty minutes heading up the mountain and you’ll come to the entrance of the temple. There are also restaurants and little shops along the way. Great place, loved it.

We traveled more than an hour by bus from Kyoto station to the foot of the mountain and visited the temple. The claim up was easy and the surrounding was tranquil. However due to the height of the mountain the cherry blossoms were not in full bloom yet. Didn’t get into the temple itself but enjoy the surroundings very much and the claim up to the waterfall was refreshing and a good exercise. If there are not many other place to visit, this can be a good option. The restaurant near to it served healthy food with a nice vibe. The onsen was not open on the day else will be even better.
