Sasuke Inari Shrine is an absolute gem and easily one of our favorite shrines in all of Japan. Tucked away in "Kamakura's hidden village," it offers a unique and mystical experience. Dozens of red torii gates and hundreds of foxes scattered everywhere create an enchanting atmosphere that truly set it apart from the more famous Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. If you're looking for a truly special shrine experience, Sasuke Inari is not to be missed.

The shrine is approximately a 30-minute journey from the train station, and I decided to walk there on the day. Along the way, I encountered many unique residential houses that caught my attention. Since the shrine is located uphill, the walk was a bit challenging and required more physical effort.

It was a very quiet inari shrine. Most of the visitors are locals. I did not see tourists during our visit. We enjoyed our time there.

Nice place full of nature and some amazing photo taking spots. The shrine is not as big though and the entrance stairs is quite long including a round stairs at the top as well. Not too many steps though. Can visit when here.

Lovely fox sanctuary in the forest. No entrance fee The visit was short, but there were a lot of cute foxes statues. You can buy your own statue at the shop to put it in the sanctuary. Need to climb several steps to reach the sanctuary. Cool visit
